"Ode to the Winter Blossoms", or better known as "xue3 mei2 song4", was another of our dances sent for the Singapore Youth Festival 2001 Dance Central Judging. It had also clinched a gold award, and was placed among the Top 10 together with the other dance items. The dancers of this item were also invited to perform at the Singapore Youth Festival 2001 Opening Ceremony at Kallang Theatre. This dance was also performed at the school's Festival of Arts Concert in July 2001. Basically, this dance symbolizes the determination of the cherry blossoms, despite the harsh winter conditions, to survive through the season and bloom. This dance was inspired by the courage shown by our Singapore mountaineers who had bravely conquered Mount Everest after so many years of training. We would like to dedicate this dance to them - the brave heroes who had done it.
